Visitor Guidelines

Statement of Purpose And Philosophy

These guidelines define privileges, restrictions, and fees for categories of users who are currently unaffiliated with the University of the Pacific Library. The Library faculty and staff affirm that service to our primary community of current Pacific students, faculty, and staff is our first priority. Visitors' needs must be placed in the context of the demands on collections, equipment, facilities, and personnel.

As a benefit to University of the Pacific and as a good neighbor to the wider Stockton community, the Library provides selected services and privileges to University of the Pacific alumni, San Joaquin Delta College students, and other visitors. The Library also recognizes its obligation to scholars and community members who utilize the Library's Holt-Atherton Special Collections.

Software, electronic books, and databases are available to only University of the Pacific faculty, staff, and currently registered students due to contractual obligations and license agreements.

Visitor Privileges and Responsibilities

Alumni, non-Pacific students, and visitors have access to the following:

Qualified visitors may purchase a borrower's card for $50 per year. This card allows circulating books to be borrowed for one month. A limit of ten items may be borrowed at one time. The borrower agrees to pay fines and to reimburse the Library for lost or damaged materials.

Visitors are expected to respect the rules of the University of the Pacific Library and to maintain a quiet atmosphere conducive to study.

Visitors who do not comply with library regulations will be asked to leave.

Pacific Alumni

In addition to the visitor privileges stated above, University of the Pacific Alumni receive book checkout free of charge. A limit of ten items may be borrowed at one time.

San Joaquin Delta College Students

In addition to the visitor privileges stated above, San Joaquin Delta College students may purchase a special borrower's card for a fee of $20 per semester or $50 per year. A form must be obtained and signed at the Delta College Library before registering at the University of the Pacific Library. A limit of ten items may be borrowed at one time.
