Periodical Articles

The library has periodical articles in print and online. Others you can request through InterLibrary Loan. We have both popular and scholarly periodicals. Here are some ways to tell the difference:

Databases

The following databases should be useful for this course:

• Academic Search Complete: abstracts and full-text of popular and scholarly articles
• Communication and Mass Media: index, abstracts; some full-text of communication.
• Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe:  full-text news sources, not scholarly but useful
• JSTOR: backfiles of the full-text of hundreds of scholarly journals. No current content!
• Philosopher’s Index: index and abstracts literature of philosophy.
• Project Muse: Full content of many scholarly journals.

E-Journals

The e-journal list is just that—a directory of journals available in electronic format. Use this if you want to see if the library has a particular journal in this format. If you want to search by subject, use a database, such as one of those listed above.
