Research and Citation Management

Specialized Assistance for Research and Citation Management

The library subscribes to two very specialized resources that can aid in your research and management of information.  One is called Scopus; the other is RefWorks.  While Scopus is know as a research tool for the natural sciences, it also contains references to literature in the social sciences.  In addition, Scopus has a special feature that can trace an author’s work through the literature and connect it to others who reference his or her research.  This works the same way as the “cited by” feature in PsycINFO but encompasses a wider body of literature.  The other tool, RefWorks, is a way to manage your research and control your citations as you investigate your topic.  RefWorks can also facilitate placing in text citations into your papers and producing your complete reference list.  Both of these tools provide valuable graphic explanations of how they function.
