LIBRARY RENOVATION UPDATE
The new library wing is complete and in use. However, the library is still in transition as we continue to renovate and improve each section. Just visit the circulation desk if you need help locating materials while we're in transition.
The Collection:
The journal collection is being divided by publication date. All journals dated 1996 and earlier are in the new wing in the basement. All microfilm is now housed in this area.
Journals published in 1997 and later are on the Main floor in the Holt wing in the northeast section of the library. The Reference books and hard copy newspapers are also located in this area.
The book collection is being divided by publication date. Books published in 1974 or earlier will be housed in the basement, as shelving becomes available. At this time, all books with a call number range of A through DF and published in 1974 or earlier have been identified and moved to the basement.
Books published in 1975 or later will be housed in the new wing, 2 nd floor. At this time, A-E have been moved.
The remaining part of the collection will be moved as shelving becomes available. Circulation personnel are available to help you locate materials at any time.
Spring 2006:
The Martin wing (across from the main circulation desk) is being transformed at this time. A group viewing room is being created and a listening/viewing room is being built. Upon completion, Music/AV and Circulation will merge and there will be one service point. The Circulation desk will then be in this newly renovated area.
Four new study rooms are being completed and a new copy room is being constructed.
Summer 2006:
The truly exciting news is that the café/sitting/eating area is being built this summer – a year earlier than planned! It will be where the current circulation desk area is located. A new electronic display area will be constructed where the current lobby bulletin board currently resides. The back offices will be renovated at this time and 2 new offices and a conference room will be created.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to renovate and improve your library. There are free earplugs at the circulation desk and we can check out earphones at both the circulation desk and the music/av desk. |
