The Library Privacy Policy consists of the following:
All IM buddy chats are automatically logged by our IM software.
This information is used to help analyze the amount and types of questions we are being asked. This data helps determine appropriate staffing levels, and aids in training librarians to effectively use the service.
This information is only accessible to librarians and staff associated with the AskPacific service.
Individual chats are not shared with anyone outside of the library. Statistics generated from chat logs, as well as excerpts, may be used for reports or publications. However, information about specific individuals (e.g., IP or e-mail addresses, personal names, phone numbers, etc.) that might be included as part of a chat transcript will never be shared with anyone outside of the University of the Pacific Library.
Any user who wishes to have a record of their chat deleted may email librarian Michelle Maloney to request deletion of their chat transcript. Users will need to provide the date of their chat, as well as their IM screen name.
